How Two Freelancers Built a Business to Benefit Hundreds
Ireland has always been a thriving market for creativity in everything from literature to music and it has also punched above its weight in commercial sectors like advertising and digital marketing. Despite having a large body of independent professionals, the Irish freelance sector lacked organisation, consistency and ease of access. However, the Covid crisis and its impact on work patterns was the catalyst for two freelancers to set up a freelancer-first initiative that would help to generate millions of euro in new work for independents.
Peter McPartlin, one of the co-founders of The Indie List, will talk about the strategy and lessons learned in doing well by doing good.
Peter has worked for many years in the Irish media and marketing industry with some of the countryâs largest agencies including Dentsu, BBDO, OMD and MediaCom. Over his career, he has also been centrally involved on strategies and campaigns for many of the countryâs largest brands.
His work has received a variety of accolades, including three Gold All Ireland Marketing awards and two IAPI effectiveness awards.
Peter was CEO of Irelandâs leading commercial radio station, Today FM and led it to become âNational Station of the Yearâ. As well as consulting with several media bodies, Peter is a non-executive chairman of the digital media platform, BuyMedia.
In early 2020, Peter joined Ăna Herlihy to create The Indie List as the Irish hub for a broader range of marketing talent.
He is a passionate advocate for freelancing and freelancers.”
